FactoryDate

Privacy Policy

Northwoods Ventures LLC · Effective October 5, 2026

This policy explains what FactoryDate, a service of Northwoods Ventures LLC, collects when you use our website, how we use it, who we share it with, and the choices you have. The short version: decoding happens in your browser, and we only receive what you choose to send us.

1. What we collect

  • Serial numbers you decode. The decoder runs in your browser. The serial you type isn't sent to us when you decode it.
  • What you send us. If you send us a serial that didn't decode or looks wrong, by our form or by email, we receive the serial number, the brand, equipment type and model, any date, note or photo you include, the page you sent it from, and your email address.
  • Technical data. Like any website, our hosting provider receives your IP address, browser and device type, the pages you request, and the page that referred you, and keeps them in short-lived server logs used to run and secure the site.
  • Usage data. Vercel Web Analytics records how the site is used: pages viewed, how you arrived, device and browser type, and approximate location. See section 4.

2. How we use it

  • To run the site and keep it secure.
  • To review serials you send us, fix or add decoder rules, and keep the serial and its date as a test case (never with your email address).
  • To reply to you, if you gave an email address and asked for a reply.
  • To understand overall traffic, and to comply with law.

3. Who we share it with

  • Service providers that run the site on our behalf: Vercel (hosting and website analytics), Postmark (delivers form submissions to us by email), Cloudflare Turnstile (checks that a form submission comes from a person; it processes your IP address and browser signals). They may process data only to provide their service to us.
  • Legal and safety. When required by law, legal process, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of anyone.
  • Business transfers. If Northwoods Ventures LLC is acquired or merges, information may transfer to the successor under this policy.

We do not sell personal information, and we do not share it for targeted advertising.

4. Cookies and analytics

The site sets no cookies of its own and runs no Google Analytics tags.

Vercel Web Analytics. We count page views with Vercel Web Analytics, from our hosting provider. It doesn't use cookies and doesn't store your IP address; it tells visits apart with a code made from each request, discarded after 24 hours, and gives us only totals. See Vercel's Web Analytics privacy page.

Cloudflare Turnstile loads only when you start filling in our form. See Cloudflare's Turnstile privacy addendum. There are no advertising tags on the site.

Our pages link to manufacturers' sites and other sources. What happens there is governed by their own privacy policies.

6. How long we keep it

Form submissions are kept in our email until they're resolved and for up to two years after, then deleted; the serial number and its date may be kept indefinitely as a test case, without your email address. Server logs are kept for a short period, generally no more than 30 days.

7. Your choices and rights

To ask what we hold about you, or to have it corrected or deleted, email support@factorydate.com and we will respond within 45 days. Residents of states with consumer privacy laws, including Connecticut, California, Colorado, and Virginia, may exercise their rights under those laws the same way. We will not discriminate against you for exercising your rights.

8. Security

Pages are served over HTTPS. No system is perfectly secure, and we cannot guarantee against every breach.

9. Children

FactoryDate is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.

10. Changes

We may update this policy. The effective date appears at the top. See also our Terms of Service.
